Lippajad

Lippajad

... is an Estonian psychedelic avant-garde, freejazz, fusion, improgroup formed in 2001 in Tallinn by Tarvo Kaspar Toome. He is also a frontman of Megan Quartet (former Meggan), probably the oldest band in Estonian new wave of progressive rock and jazz rock that started in the beginning of 1990’s.

Lippajad creates contemporary instrumental music which could in lack of better term be characterized as a post-fusion. The aim of the band is not cultivating a certain musical style, rather on the contrary — Lippajad uses everything that seems appropriate and worth melting at this particular moment. In short, Lippajad has grown to be an avid organism that has kraut rock for breakfast, jazz for snack, avant-garde experimentalism for lunch and contemporary classical music for dinner; at night-time Lippajad sacks the fridge of electronic music. In addition to a goblet of maddening improvisational wine, an audience can get a bellyful of fusion fillet or at least a salty psychedelic tic-sandwich.

The name "Lippajad" (in English "lopers") was selected in reference to a classic science fiction fix-up novel "City" by Clifford D. Simak.
